    Region Finals at UVA Wise

If you find it unfair that the Higher Seed has to travel to UVA Wise to play their football game instead of hosting that game like they are supposed to then please sign the petition at the following link.

Region D Football Championships at UVA Wise. Petition

I know this might not change it for this year but hoping to change the minds of some of the other schools in Region D when it comes up to vote on again. If you like it then so be it. you do not have to sign. But if you find it unfair then PLEASE sign.

My biggest problem with this is that people from GC, VHS, and Lebanon have no problem with the basketball setup. I think the games should be played at higher seeds in all sports, as long as the LPD Champion plays a basketball playoff game in Bristol or Lebanon you can take this petition and shove it as far as I'm concerned.

Thumbs up Re: Region Finals at UVA Wise

maybe thats because the seating doesn't blow.

my biggest prob is that everyone complains about gcs seating, haveing fans on the same side of the stands....thats the case at uva wise

Re: Region Finals at UVA Wise

There are stands on the visitor side at UVa-Wise. I'm all for taking it out of UVa-Wise, I have never liked it, never will. At the same time, the basketball playoffs should be taken out of Lebanon/Bristol/Castlewood. People can claim the seating isn't big enough but the games last year, and I was at most of the regional basketball playoffs for both boys and girls. I went to JIB/JJK on the same night at two different venues for the girls game (yea I have no life) and it was no where close to being full. Play it at the higher seeds, revamp the playoff setup, and use some common sense. As long as we keep playing politics you CMD guys might be really upset in a few years ole UVa-Wise may be the home to the Region D Football, Baseball, and Basketball playoffs.

UVA-Wise played for several years without any bleachers at all. It is a great place to watch a game no matter which side you are on. Plenty of standing room, or bring a blanket to sit on the hill.

I can see both sides of the coin. I personally wish basketball would go back to rotating sites within the districts. Heck now you could technically let every district host some form of regional basketball each year. Let the LPD have Girls D2, CMD Boys D2, CD Girls D1, BDD Boys D1 and rotate every year. I think it is unfair for the home teams to travel for the championships when they have earned the right, but its also a great atmosphere for the games. I just wish it wasn't played on artificial turf since that is not what they play on in the finals anymore.

I love the setup the way it is. And I'm a Clintwood fan who's team would have hosted that RD title game last year. It's a comparable drive from CW to GC, not that much of a difference. The only way I would want it changed would be to have both games at say, GC, or CW, or PV on the same day. I don't think the fields could take it, but that's a great event that day at the college. The kids like playing on that field and it seems the adults are the only one's who have a problem with it.

I do know the kids at Gate City hate it.

They sure don't seem to. Last year in pre game when I was 10 feet away from them the few I heard seemed kind of thrilled to be there playing on that field.
